The Chandeliers at the Jupiter
[Photo by KPA]I could find only one online image of these spectacular chandeliers which are in the Jupiter International Hotel's (Kazanchis branch) casual dining/lobby area. The view is from the upstairs, formal dining room, which has a railed gallery looking downwards.
They are high up in the ceiling, set off by the tall yellow columns. They are off during the day, but come on later around 4pm, which is when I go to have my "Ambo" mineral water, or Schweppes tonic. Something inexpensive to savor something magnificent.
The hotel chain (there is two of them in Addis) is owned by Canadian (no less) expats.
The hotel has its own magazine, which was temporarily discontinued ("due to COVID"), but which the marketing manager promised me will be back into circulation "soon."
Read back issues of Jupiter's Addis Experience here online (and if in town, pick up a hard copy at the visitor's front desk).
It is interesting why they chose the name "Jupiter." Perhaps because it is "the most massive planet in the solar system." And "one of the brightest object in the night sky." [Source]
Fitting, for those sparkling, giant, chandeliers.
