PM Abiy has, throughout his leadership, professed, and proved, his pro-Ethiopia stand. And even as he was forced to fight regionally instigated wars, he has found any means possible to stop, or to shorten, any armed conflict that his government was engaged in.
Here is his latest:
“To optimize the success of the humanitarian truce, the Government calls upon the insurgents in Tigray to desist from all acts of further aggression and withdraw from areas they have occupied in neighboring regions,” the statement said.
As usual, there will be naysayers, cynics, the "anti" crowd, and the various regional insurgent group leaders.
Still, PM Abiy is a politician, and he HAS to play politics.
But, he IS saying "give peace a chance."
And, not surprisingly, the groups he addressed IMMEDIATELY accepted his call for truce. And so they should, fighting as they are on empty.
